Milder depression might involve low mood but you may still be able to carry on with your daily life. But things may feel harder and less worthwhile.

If you have more severe depression, you might find day-to-day life much more difficult. and you may also experience suicidal thoughts.

  • Irritability and restlessness 
  • Loss or appetite or over eating
  • Thoughts of suicide or suicide attempts
  • insomnia

  • Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed, like sex, hobbies  
  • Difficulty concentrating, and making decisions
  • A sense of hopelessness, sadness, guilt, worthlessness or feeling lost and empty
